Amid all the hopes for 2010, people forgot that sometimes in the UK, it snows. The country did not grind to a halt, but slowed down dramatically. Many people could not get to work. Exhausted, after hours spent in traffic jams and all because we forgot how to cope when the snow fell. It was pretty, the country ran out of salt and the snow and ice lasted for over 2 weeks in some places.
The affect on work was huge. I found many business's struggling to manufacture and get the goods delivered. It was a difficult tracking down contacts and making appointments, but gradually the diary started to fill up. Appointments, in all the counties in the North-West, except Cumbria. Driving up the M6 to North Lancashire was not pleasant, and over the Pennines into West Yorkshire the hills still a lot of snow left on them. The M60 has road works!
A few but high quality orders resulted. Rotational moulded products, stainless steel racks, aluminium foils. A day in London travelling on Virgin Trains, visiting retailers and restaurants. A number of enquiries for waste bins, bespoke equipment, sundry items, stacking containers, nest stacking containers, baking trays and pie tins.
During January, I also gained the services of a mentor via the Government. They do sometimes give something for nothing! I also decided that more focus should be given to my web site and to those who read my blog or visit my web site, I hope you will like the small but very important change that will take place.
The last weekend in January was spent at Tyddyn Llan Hotel at Llandrillo, to celebrate a special birthday. If you have never visited this hotel, I would recommend for a special event. The food was excellent, setting beautiful (even in 3 inches of snow) and the rooms very luxurious.
Summer holiday is booked. Please let the sun shine. I have had enough snow for 2010!
